Who I Am

Hi ,and thanks so much for visiting The Garden Plot website!

My name is Colleen Thom and I developed this website because I am passionate about gardening…. more specifically….passionate about flowers!

This site reflects my journey through the phases of gardening…from the beginner gardener  to an experienced gardener!

What I Do

I am a retired nurse. I currently operate my own business helping people look and feel younger. Besides creating my business, I spend a lot of my free time in my garden.

I raised two wonderful children and throughout those years of raising my family, we moved frequently.  I spent many years learning to garden in different  climates and at different elevations. Some locations were  challenging, and others, were so very perfect!

Why I Do It

Over the years, my passion for gardening has intensified. Being in my garden is a “retreat into nature”. It is so good for the soul! The changing phases of the garden delight me and help me to connect with my inner self. It lets  me explore my creative side and is truly, a meditative atmosphere.

There are so many facets to gardening and I wish I would  have had someone to guide me when I first began. Planning flower beds, landscaping ideas, choosing plants and vegetables perfect for your particular climate,  planting day….all of these are exciting and give such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.  The feelings I feel when I gaze upon a flower is almost indescribable. The beauty of each flower is so unique and wondrous!

It is my goal to share my tips and tricks, tools and strategies from my personal experience to help you if you are a beginner gardener. If you have experience with gardening, I would love it if you would share your ideas with me!
